Associate Attorney

Understanding of the Industry

Hugh Mulligan is an associate attorney at Thompson Tarasek Lee-O’Halloran PLLC. He practiced construction law before joining the firm, with a specific focus on residential construction. Hugh’s experience includes contract drafting, handling collection disputes, correspondence with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, and extensive legal research on behalf of contractors and subcontractors. He understands the nuances of contract drafting and expectations each party should have before a project begins.

Distinctive Background

Hugh came to the law as a second career. Before starting law school, Hugh worked in higher education. His previous background serves him well when communicating in a non-legal forum. In construction law, the language of contracts and other complex legal documents can be confounding. Hugh takes his acumen from outside the legal world and applies it to situations where clear explanations assist clients in better understanding their situation.

Continued Growth

Since starting in construction law, Hugh has been an active member of the Construction Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) as well as an associate member of other Minnesota construction organizations. Whether it be through continued courses through the MSBA or networking opportunities with construction professionals, he continues to gain knowledge and understanding of the industry in order to best serve clients.
